Biography

Paul Carden took over as manager of Nantwich Town FC in February 2023, bringing a rich history of managerial experience to the role. His most prominent stint prior to joining Nantwich was with Warrington Town, where he served as manager from 2016 to 2021. During his tenure at Warrington Town, Paul led the team to several playoff finishes. Notably, in 2019, his team was on the brink of promotion to the National League North, having defeated Nantwich (also known as the Dabbers) and South Shields in the playoffs. However, a subsequent ‘super play-off’ against King’s Lynn resulted in Warrington Town missing out on the promotion.

The COVID-19 pandemic further impacted Paul’s time at Warrington Town, disrupting two potential playoff campaigns. Following his tenure at Warrington Town, he moved to AFC Telford United, a National League North team, in a challenging situation. At AFC Telford, he was credited with saving the club from relegation after joining when they were at the bottom of the division. Paul’s time at AFC Telford United ended in October 2022.

In addition to his role at Warrington Town and AFC Telford United, Paul has had caretaker managerial roles at Cambridge United, Tranmere Rovers, and Southport, showcasing his versatility and adaptability in different football environments. His playing career was equally diverse, with nearly 450 league appearances, particularly at clubs like Chester City and Cambridge.
