Biography

Paul Cook returned to Chesterfield for a second managerial spell in February, seven years after initially departing for Portsmouth. During his first tenure with Chesterfield, Cook achieved notable success, securing the League Two title and reaching the League One play-offs.

Following his time at Chesterfield, Cook had a successful two-year spell at Portsmouth, guiding them to a League Two championship. He then moved to Wigan Athletic, where his three-year stint was highlighted by winning the League One title. Cook’s managerial journey also included a nine-month period at Ipswich Town, concluding in December 2021.

As a player, Cook was known for his creativity in midfield, representing clubs such as Wigan Athletic, Wolves, Coventry City, and Burnley. His managerial career began at Southport, followed by positions at Sligo Rovers and Accrington Stanley, before his initial engagement with Chesterfield.
