History

Bury Football Club, founded in 1885 in Lancashire, England, has a rich history in English football. The club, known as the ‘Shakers’, won the FA Cup twice in the early 20th century and was a member of the English Football League from 1894 to 2019. Unfortunately, due to financial mismanagement, the club faced expulsion from the EFL in 2019.

Following this setback, Bury Football Club has been restructured and is now actively competing again. The club participates in the North West Counties Football League, which is at Step 9 in the English football pyramid system.

The team plays its home games at Gigg Lane, a ground that has been associated with the club since its early days. Despite the challenges, the club’s re-emergence in the lower tiers of English football marks a new chapter in its history, maintaining its long-standing community presence and football heritage.
