The Shakers

Bury Football Club, nicknamed “The Shakers,” is a non-league football club based in Bury, Greater Manchester.

Established in 1885, they currently compete in the NWCFL Premier Division, which is part of the ninth tier of English football. The team calls Gigg Lane their home ground.

With a rich history in English football, Bury, won the FA Cup twice in the early 20th century and was a member of the English Football League from 1894 to 2019. Unfortunately, due to financial mismanagement, the club faced expulsion from the EFL in 2019.

Following this setback, Bury Football Club has been restructured and is now actively competing again. The club participates in the North West Counties Football League, which is at Step 9 in the English football pyramid system.

The team plays its home games at Gigg Lane, a ground that has been associated with the club since its early days. Despite the challenges, the club’s re-emergence in the lower tiers of English football marks a new chapter in its history, maintaining its long-standing community presence and football heritage.
