Matt Taylor


Matt Taylor is a football coach serving as the First Team Manager of Wealdstone Football Club .

He is the holder of a UEFA Pro Licence.

Taylor brings a wealth of experience to the role, having managed Swindon Town, Walsall, and Shrewsbury Town. Before his managerial career, Taylor enjoyed a distinguished playing career, amassing over 300 Premier League appearances with Portsmouth, Bolton Wanderers, West Ham United, and Burnley.

Taylor holds the UEFA Pro Licence, the highest coaching qualification in Europe. He began his managerial journey as the interim manager at Swindon Town in 2018, later securing permanent managerial positions at Walsall in League Two and Shrewsbury Town in League One. His coaching tenure at Tottenham Hotspur as the Under-18 manager showcased his ability to nurture young talent, a quality that aligns with Wealdstone’s long-term ambitions.

At Wealdstone, Taylor will be joined by Assistant Manager Paul Hughes, who brings significant management experience and a successful track record. Taylor expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunity to build something special at Wealdstone and looks forward to the challenges ahead.
