Biography

George Elokobi, born in Cameroon, moved to England at the age of 16 and began his football journey with Dulwich Hamlet. His potential quickly led him to Colchester United, marking the start of an impressive professional career. Elokobi’s talent and tenacity earned him a dream move to Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves), where he became a key player. During his six-year tenure at Wolves, he celebrated notable successes, including winning League One and Championship titles. Elokobi etched his name in the club’s history with a significant goal against Manchester United, ending their 29-match unbeaten run and cementing his status as a fan favorite.

His career also included stints with Nottingham Forest, Oldham Athletic, and a return to Colchester United. Venturing into non-league football, Elokobi played for Leyton Orient and Aldershot Town before joining Maidstone United in 2019. At Maidstone, he transitioned from player to manager, having captained the team for three seasons. Elokobi concluded his 20-year playing career in May, embarking on a coaching journey at Maidstone’s football academy and earning his Football Association coaching qualifications. In recognition of his leadership and dedication, he was appointed Maidstone United’s manager for the 2023/24 season.

Off the pitch, Elokobi’s contributions extend to his role as an ambassador for Diabetes UK and his support for charity work in his native Cameroon.
