Alex Sykes is a football coach serving as the Assistant Manager of Evesham United Football Club . He has previously been associated with Bath City, Bishop's Cleeve, Cinderford Town, Nuneaton Borough and Redditch United during his career.
In May 2011, Sykes was appointed manager of Bishop’s Cleeve, leading the club to its then record-high finish of 11th in the Southern League South & West during his first season. He stepped down in April 2013 and subsequently became joint-manager of Shortwood United with John Evans in May 2013. Alex took sole charge after Evans’ retirement at the end of the 2015-16 season and managed the club through the 2016-17 season before leaving in April 2017. In January 2018, he became assistant manager at Redditch United and was appointed manager of Cinderford Town in October 2021, a position he held until the end of the 2022-23 season.
Alex’s playing career began in the Football League with Mansfield Town, but he is best known for his tenure at Forest Green Rovers, where he made 295 appearances and scored 73 goals between 1996 and 2004, including a loan period. He was also a fan favorite at Gloucester City, scoring 60 goals in 160 appearances. His playing career also included stints at Nuneaton Borough, Bath City, and Bishop’s Cleeve, showcasing his versatility and scoring ability.
Additionally, Alex represented England as a futsal international, highlighting his diverse footballing skills.
