Aldershot Town Football Club, nicknamed “The Shots,” is a non-league football club based in Aldershot, Hampshire.

Established in 1992, they currently compete in the Vanarama National League, which is part of the fifth tier of English football. The team calls Recreation Ground their home ground.

Established in 1992 following the dissolution of Aldershot FC, the club quickly made an impact in non-league football. Debuting in the Isthmian League Division 3, they won their first season with notable goal-scoring feats from Mark Butler and Steve Stairs. Subsequent seasons under Steve Wignall and later Steve Wigley saw steady progress, including another promotion and strong league finishes.

George Borg’s tenure beginning in 1997 brought further success, including the Isthmian League Division 1 title and cup victories. Transitioning to the Football Conference, Aldershot remained competitive, reaching the FA Trophy semi-finals and challenging in the playoffs.

Promotion to the Football League was achieved in 2007-08 under Gary Waddock, with Aldershot setting divisional records and winning the Setanta Shield. The club’s Football League period was marked by respectable finishes, managerial changes, and fluctuating performances.

Relegation and financial difficulties in 2013 saw Aldershot enter administration. Despite a 10-point deduction, the club retained their Conference Premier status in the 2013-14 season. Financial recovery was swift, but on-field results remained mixed. Gary Waddock’s return in 2016 led to a playoff semi-final appearance in 2017-18.

However, challenges including key player departures and an injury crisis resulted in relegation from the National League, leading to Waddock’s departure by mutual consent.
