Southall Football Club, nicknamed “The Hall,” is a non-league football club based in Hayes, Middlesex.
Established in 1871, they currently compete in the Pitching In Isthmian League South Central Division, which is part of the eighth tier of English football. The team calls SkyEx Community Stadium their home ground.
Early fixtures built a strong local profile, with entry into the FA Cup in its third year and a rivalry with Uxbridge shaping the opening seasons. Joining the Southern League in 1896-97 brought regular games with Brentford, Fulham and Watford, and a 1906 merger with a neighbouring club secured a permanent home at Western Road, used until the early 1990s.
Southall’s peak came between the 1920s and 1960s, drawing four-figure crowds and supplying several amateur internationals. It reached the 1925 FA Amateur Cup final, won the 1926-27 Athenian League, and in 1935-36 recorded 17 straight cup victories, advancing from the Extra Preliminary Round to the FA Cup Third Round and defeating Swindon Town before selling Western Road to Ealing Council in 1940.
Amateur Cup ties at Stamford Bridge, Highbury and Craven Cottage drew crowds above 20,000, and the team reached the 1986 FA Vase final at Wembley. Future England internationals Gordon Hill, Alan Devonshire and Les Ferdinand appeared in its ranks. Western Road’s closure in the early 1990s led to groundsharing, but titles in 2018 and 2022 lifted the club back to the Isthmian League, where it opened with a mid-table finish.
