The Met

Metropolitan Police Football Club, nicknamed “The Met,” is a non-league football club based in East Molesey, Surrey.

Established on 1st January, 1907, they currently compete in the Pitching In Isthmian League South Central Division, which is part of the eighth tier of English football. The team calls Imber Court their home ground.

The side began competitive play in 1928, entering the Spartan League after a period of friendlies, and dominated the competition, lifting the title eight times, finishing runners-up once and taking the League Cup before switching to the Metropolitan League in 1960, where another League Cup was secured in 1969.

Admission to the Southern League Division South followed in 1971 under manager Vic Rouse, and the side joined the Isthmian League Division Two in 1977. Promotion came at the first attempt after a runners-up finish, and third place in Division One in 1981/82 left them two points from promotion. The 1984/85 season featured a televised FA Cup First Round tie with Dartford but ended in relegation to Division Two (South).

Seventh in 1985/86 and 1986/87, the side finished runners-up in 1987/88, one point behind Chalfont St Peter and a goal ahead of Dorking. After two mid-table seasons the team dropped into the restructured Division Two in 1990/91, remaining there with consistent top-half standings and another FA Cup First Round appearance in 1993/94. The 75th-anniversary campaign of 1994/95 brought a new grandstand at Imber Court, fifth place and victory in the Carlsberg Trophy, and in 1999/2000 they reached the FA Vase quarter-finals.
