Harrow Borough Football Club, nicknamed “The Boro,” is a non-league football club based in South Harrow, Harrow.
Established in 1933, they currently compete in the Pitching In Isthmian League South Central Division, which is part of the eighth tier of English football. The team calls Rogers Family Stadium their home ground.
The club began its journey in the Harrow and District League, finishing runners-up in its debut season before moving to the Spartan League alongside a relocation to Earlsmead. After competing in the West Middlesex Combination and Middlesex Senior League during the war years, the club resumed Spartan League football before earning promotion to the Delphian League in 1958. A subsequent merger led to their acceptance into the Athenian League, where they finished as Division Two runners-up in their first season. A name change to Harrow Borough came in 1967, coinciding with relegation, and the club endured eight seasons in Division Two before earning a place in the Isthmian League in 1975. Progress on the pitch mirrored off-field improvements, including new club facilities, and by 1979 they secured promotion to the Isthmian League Premier Division.
The early 1980s marked the club’s most successful period, winning the Middlesex Charity Cup and Middlesex Senior Cup, and reaching the FA Trophy semi-finals in 1983. A year later, the club celebrated its Golden Jubilee with a match against Manchester United and secured its first Isthmian League Premier Division title by a dominant 17-point margin. Under manager Micky Tomkys, the club enjoyed sustained success until his retirement in 1985, after which a gradual decline followed. Several times they narrowly avoided relegation, including in the 1999/00 season when survival was secured by goal difference. The early 2000s saw renewed focus on youth development, forming partnerships with local clubs and establishing an Under-18 squad. By 2010-11, they achieved their highest league finish in years, reaching the play-offs for a place in the Conference South and making a notable FA Cup run before losing to Chesterfield.
A managerial change in 2011 led to a period of transition, with the club experiencing fluctuating fortunes. Steve Baker’s appointment in 2015 steadied the club, guiding them to an FA Cup First Round appearance in 2016/17 and another in 2021/22, where they narrowly lost to Portsmouth. However, league struggles continued, and despite a late reprieve in 2023 following Met Police’s voluntary relegation, the club ultimately dropped to Step 4 in 2024 after finishing second-bottom. Jordan Berry’s tenure as manager ended by mutual consent, and ahead of the 2024/25 season, Ben Bukowski took charge as the club prepared for life in the Isthmian South Central Division.
