History

Lakenheath Football Club, established around 1907–08, initially played in the Ouse Valley League and later in the Essex and Suffolk Border League. The club’s early achievements include winning the Suffolk Junior Cup in 1936–37 and being Premier Division runners-up in 1947–48. After moving to the Norfolk & Suffolk League, Lakenheath joined the Anglian Combination in 1964 following a league merger. They achieved runner-up positions in various divisions and won the Suffolk Junior Cup again in 1974–75.

In the late 1990s, the club transitioned to the Cambridgeshire County League, clinching the Senior Division A title in 2007–08 and the Premier Division in 2010–11. They also secured multiple runner-up finishes and won the Suffolk Senior Cup in 2014–15 with a notable 7–0 victory. Despite an eighth-place finish in 2017–18, Lakenheath was promoted to the Eastern Counties League Division One North. Their consistent performance earned them a promotion to the Premier Division in 2021, based on results from the previous two seasons, which were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. They also secured the Suffolk Senior Cup for the second time in 2020–21, demonstrating the club’s enduring competitiveness in regional football.
