Lichfield City Football Club, nicknamed “City,” is a non-league football club based in Lichfield, Staffordshire.
Established in 1970, they currently compete in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Division One Midlands, which is part of the eighth tier of English football. The team calls Trade Tyre Community Stadium their home ground.
The club is a 3-Star FA Accredited Community organisation, fielding about 500 players each week. Its first team competes in the Midland Football League Premier Division, with a ladies side in the West Midlands Regional League and 28 junior teams. Programmes include a full-time education academy, Wildcats sessions for girls, a Saturday soccer school and an FA Just Play scheme, all run on a non-profit, volunteer-supported basis.
Founded in the 1970s as Beacon Rangers and later Beacon Park, the club adopted its current name in 2006. It received FA Charter Standard status in 2007 and was Staffordshire FA Community Club of the Year in 2010. After leasing Brownsfield Road in 2007, the first team joined the Midland Football Combination and progressed through league restructures to its Premier Division by 2012, aided by floodlights and ground works.
A 3G pitch installed in 2018 increased capacity. The side earned promotion to the Midland Football League Premier Division in 2021 and placed third that season. Subsequent upgrades added seating, a scoreboard, media cabin and improved dressing rooms. The club lifted the JW Hunt Cup at Molineux in 2023 and 2024; the 2023-24 league campaign ended second, losing the promotion play-off after 57 matches.
