Alfreton Town Football Club, nicknamed “The Reds,” is a non-league football club based in Alfreton, Derbyshire.

Established in 1959, they currently compete in the Enterprise National League North, which is part of the sixth tier of English football. The team calls The Impact Arena their home ground.

Formed through the merger of Alfreton Miners Welfare and Alfreton United, the club initially played at a new ground provided by the local council. Early success saw the team gain entry to the Midland Counties League within its first two seasons. A record attendance of 5,023 was recorded at North Street during a visit from Matlock Town in 1960.

Following a period of success, the club was relegated from the Northern Premier League into the Northern Counties League. The club was acquired by local businessman Wayne Bradley in 1997, who subsequently became Chairman. The 2001/02 campaign proved highly successful, resulting in four trophies, including the Northern Counties (East) League Premier Division championship.

Under manager Chris Wilder during the 2001/02 season, the club achieved promotion back to the Northern Premier League and subsequently entered the Conference (North). The 2008/09 season saw the team reach the play-offs for the first time, narrowly losing in the semi-finals. The side also reached the FA Cup second round proper for the first time in the club’s history.

The 2010/11 campaign marked a significant achievement when the club won the Blue Square Bet North title, leading to promotion to the highest level of football the club had ever competed at. After four seasons in the National League, the club was relegated in the 2014/15 season. The team reached the play-offs again in the 2022/23 season, losing to Kidderminster Harriers.
