Overview

Matlock Town Football Club is an association football club, based in Matlock. Founded 145 years ago in 1878, the team currently compete in the Northern Premier League, the 7th tier of English football.

They play their home matches at Causeway Lane, and are nicknamed "The Gladiators".

The team's playing kit is manufactured by TAG Sportswear.

History

Matlock Town rose to prominence in the mid 1970s and became one of the most successful sides in the country.

They won the FA Trophy at Wembley in 1974/75, reached the Third Round of the FA Cup in 1976/77, and won the NPL Challenge Cup in 1977/78.

In 1983/84 they finished as runners up to Barrow in the league and in 2003/04 regained their place in the top flight, winning the League Cup.

They have also won the Derbyshire Senior Cup twice since 2014/15.

Matlock have a picturesque ground which has improved with a new stand and social club being erected in 2011.
