Kingstonian Football Club, nicknamed “The Ks,” is a non-league football club based in Morden, Surrey.
Established in 1885, they currently compete in the Pitching In Isthmian League Premier Division, which is part of the seventh tier of English football. The team calls Imperial Fields their home ground.
At the time of writing, Simon Lane is the current manager.
History
Kingstonian Football Club, formed in 1919 from a merger, traces its origins to 1885. Initially playing in the Athenian League, they won it twice in the 1920s and moved to the Isthmian League in 1929. Their notable achievement was winning the FA Amateur Cup in 1933. After a period of decline and relegation in 1979, they bounced back to join the Premier Division in 1985. Under manager Geoff Chapple, Kingstonian won the Isthmian League Premier Division Championship in 1997/98 and advanced to the Football Conference, winning the FA Trophy in 1999 and 2000. However, they were relegated in 2000/2001.
The early 2000s saw managerial instability and another relegation in 2004/05, despite off-field improvements. The club won the Ryman League Division One South in 2008/09 but faced playoff disappointments in subsequent seasons. Management changes continued, with a brief upturn under Tommy Williams including a league cup win in 2015-16. The club experienced ground shifts, including a move to King George’s Field and then to Imperial Fields. The COVID-19 pandemic affected the 2019-20 season but brought some cup success. Recent seasons have been challenging, with further managerial changes and struggles for league stability.
