Overview

Horsham Football Club is an association football club, based in Horsham, Sussex. Founded 152 years ago in 1871, the team currently compete in the Isthmian League Premier Division, the 7th tier of English football.

They play their home matches at Hop Oast Stadium, and are nicknamed "The Hornets".

History

Horsham Football Club was founded in 1881 and has won the West Sussex Senior League, the Sussex County League, the Royal Irish Rifles Cup, the Sussex RUR Cup and the Sussex Senior Cup multiple times.

The club joined the Metropolitan & District League in 1948 and went on to become members of the Isthmian League in 1973/74.

They won the Division Two title in 1969/70 and Division One title in 1972/73, before being relegated to Division Two in 1980.

They reached the First Round Proper of the FA Cup in 1947/48 and 1966/67, and the second round proper in 2007/08.

After financial difficulties, they were relegated to the Sussex County League in 2015 but won promotion back to the Isthmian League at the first attempt.

In 2019 they moved into their new ground off Worthing Road and finished as runners-up in 2019/20, also winning the Velocity Trophy for the first time.
