Overview

Hornchurch Football Club is an association football club, based in Upminster, Essex. Founded 100 years ago in 1923, the team currently compete in the Isthmian League Premier Division, the 7th tier of English football.

They play their home matches at Hornchurch Stadium, and are nicknamed "The Mighty Urchins".

The team's playing kit is manufactured by Macron.

History

In 1923, Upminster Wanderers were formed and played in the Romford League until 1938 when they stepped up to the Spartan League and changed their name to Hornchurch & Upminster.

In 1952 they moved to the Hornchurch Sports Stadium and changed their name to Hornchurch FC, joining the Athenian League in 1959.

They won the Division One championship in 1967 and were promoted to the Isthmian League in 1974.

They reached the Fifth Round of the FA Vase in 1975 and the Second Round of the FA Cup in 2004.

In 2002 they were promoted to Division One North and to the Premier Division in 2003.

A fire destroyed the clubhouse in 1989 and in 2005 the club reformed as AFC Hornchurch, winning the Essex Senior League in their first season back.

They were promoted to the Ryman Premier Division in 2011 and returned to the Conference South in 2014, but were relegated in 2018.

They won the FA Trophy in 2021 and now aim to return to the Conference South in their 100th season.
